Attention: Vancouver's Joomla DocCamp is over now, however more information, pictures, and videos will be posted on our blog. Important Update 1: There is a new post on our blog which provides more detailed information about the upcoming Joomla DocCamp event
Joomla! DocCamp is the community effort of a number of Joomla Developers and writers who are getting together to write documentation for the new Joomla! 1.5 framework. This event will be happening simultaneously in many cities around the globe. So far we know that Vancouver BC and Brussels will be joining us during this great community event (View the official Joomla! Announcement ).
We will be collaborating and writing documentation for Joomla, and will have loads of fun doing so. Joomla OSM has kindly covered the cost for the first soft drink, beer, and pizza per individual. We will be going to the nearby Steamworks restaurant to get our Pizza and Beer, and socialize during the one hour lunch break. There will be live Blogging, Flickring, posted YouTube videos, interviews with the participants, and possibly set up a live video streaming of our event so our other counter parts around the world could see us and be inspired. Who can participate? Developers and writers who are familiar with the Joomla! CMS and want to help. We have considered room for up to 20 writers, but the more the merrier!
When is the event happening? On Saturday, January 19th from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We will be taking a 1 hour lunch break at the nearby Steamworks Restaurant in Gastown. Where is the location? At the Network Hub ( 3rd floor - 422 Richards Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada ). Our good friends Minna and Robert have been so kind and given us their beautiful work space for the entire day, and we'll get free Wi-Fi Access too! Thank you Network Hub!
How can we participate? - Bring in your laptops and join us at The Network Hub. Your laptop should be able to access the Wi-Fi signal and go online. Make sure you have a recent version of Firefox, Safari, or (fine!) IE 7 installed.
- Install an IRC client on your laptop as well, so you can join the virtual party on IRC with the rest of the participants in other locations.
- We will give you an introduction on how to get started and collaborate on documentation .
- Have fun, make friends, learn and be a part of a community of more than 150,000 members around the world.
