How we are continuing our services during the COVID-19 pandemic
With the COVID-19 pandemic happening in the world, everyone’s lives have been affected. In rmd Studio, we are making some changes to make sure that we can continue delivering our services to our valued customers.
Three years ago, we decided to restructure our team so everyone could work remotely. An idea that we adopted from one of our clients in Belgium, and it proved to be one of our best business decisions ever since. In this model, our team members can work from their home office or workspace of choice. We do training, communication, project management, and software development using online collaboration tools, and we only meet in person for hardware-related projects and retreats.
We’re happy to say that our operation has been mostly unaffected during the last week. Attending fewer face-to-face meetings during the next eight weeks may even boost our productivity on the software development and project management fronts.
In addition to the guidelines and restrictions issued by the government, we are also adopting the following practices until further notice:
Avoiding face-to-face meetings
We are conducting all our client and team meetings using video and voice calls on Skype, Zoom, or Slack.
Avoiding mass public transit
We are avoiding mass public transportation as much as possible and using services such as Uber or Lyft. Since the weather is getting more beautiful outside, cycling and walking are also good options.
Avoiding commercial social spaces
We aren’t working from coffee shops, public libraries, and social areas. Shared workspaces that have implemented COVID-19 policies are an exception, but we discourage those options.
Avoiding conferences and technology events
We aren’t attending tech conferences, hackathons, and technology talks in person.
Sanitizing our devices
We are sanitizing work desks, laptops, smartphones, and tablets before and after work hours. Especially when we are exchanging portable devices between team members or working with hardware obtained from our clients.
Our clients are mainly professionals active in healthcare, science, and academia and their workplaces have implemented policies to ensure everyone’s safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
